You will need to cut out round discs of bread or you can cut triangles and butter on one side.
INGREDIENTS FOR SPINACH FILLING:
½ tbsp oil
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 small onion, chopped
2 bunches of spinach, roughly chopped ¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder, or to taste
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp chaat masala (optional) salt to taste
METHOD:
Heat oil on medium heat in a pan, add the cumin seeds.
Once they pop, add the onions. Let it cook for two minutes.
Add the spinach and all the spices (powders) and let it cook for 5-6 minutes.
When the spinach looks cooked, add the salt and take off heat.
Spinach is now ready to use for making Spinach Bread.
To the buttered side of bread add other fillings of your choice red chutney, green chutney, grated cheese, onions & chilies
Once you have prepared all the bread slices with fillings, you then need to prepare the batter.
For the batter you need:
1 cup Gram flour
fresh coriander
1-2 tsp ajwain
salt to taste
chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
water to make a thick consistency batter
Mix all the above ingredients.
Dip the prepared bread slices in the batter and Shallow fry until golden brown on both sides.
Best served hot.
